Five illegal workers arrested in raid

FIVE illegal workers have been arrested at two takeaways in Worksop after a raid by the immigration services on Tuesday.

The UK Border Agency confirmed today that the illegal immigrants were arrested at Aroma Chinese Restaurant, at Celtic Point, and the Mandarin Palace Restaurant on Eastgate.

Two Malaysians, a man and a woman, as well as another Chinese man were arrested at the Aroma Chinese Restaurant.

At the Mandarin Palace, two men, one Malaysian and one Chinese, were also arrested.

Information which led to the arrests came to light through what the immigration authorities described as 'conducted intelligence'.

A spokesman from the UK Border Agency said: "Steps are now being taken to remove all the illegal immigrants from the UK as soon as possible."

"The owner of the Aroma Chinese Restaurant now faces a fine of £40,000 and the owner of the Mandarin Restaurant now faces a fine of £20,000."

"This operation is an example of the work the UK Border Agency undertakes every week throughout the UK to tackle illegal working."

A Notts Police spokesman also confirmed that they were aware that the raids were taking place.
