Armed men take cash in pub raid

Robbers armed with a baseball bat and crowbar have stolen £2,500 after threatening a pub worker in Essex.

A man was cashing up in the Monkhams Inn, Station Way in Buckhurst Hill in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said the pub worker, in his 40s, had closed and locked the doors when two men in their 20s broke in through the back door.

Both robbers are described as black, about 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall, slim and clean shaven. No-one was hurt.

One of the men, carrying a crowbar, was said to have been wearing a blue Adidas tracksuit with white stripes on the sleeves and a zipped front.

The other man was wearing a grey hooded top and was armed with a baseball bat.

Police said no vehicles were heard or seen following the attack and they believe the two men ran off towards the community centre.
